In Germany another step towards censorship has been taken. A new treaty will be heard by the states and if it gets through in the future, basically all foreign websites not playing in order with german regulations will be blocked by our ISPs.

Translation just done by me(in parts, if you need another specific part, I will be glad to translate):

"Next Wednesday at the state chancellery in Mainz a hearing will take place about the newest script of the revised Youth media protection treaty. It is a treaty between the states and at the 15th December it has been sheduled by the broadcasting commision for the states to be heard..."

The treaty will include the following:

-ISPs and Webspace providers will be equalised with the actual content providers. They will be referred as "Providers". They are all responsible for the contents of their customers  (!)

<- WAIT? WHAT? This means that providers will be subject to penalties if sb. is e.g. hosting a warez site. This will surely have the providers take "protective measures",I'm thinking of spying on what their customers are doing. ->

-ISPs will be forced to block foreign websites, which are not submitting to the german youth media regulations. This means there will be a more wide-spread Internet-Censore-infrastracture be built, as Ursula von der Leyen (german minister) wanted to happen during the campaigns

-If users can create content at a website (e.g. blogs), the provider of the plattform (e.g. the blogger) must prove (!) that he will promptly delete contents that are "capable of influencing the development of younger persons". There are no exceptions planned.

<- WAIT? WHAT? I learned in my constitutional law module of basic rights granted by our constution, and freedom of speech was one them! This is total bull! ->

-In general, all content will be put into categories: 0 years and oldern, from 6 years, from 12 years, from 16 years, from 16 years
-all "Providers" (see definition at the beginning) must secure that childs of said age groups must not see content not suitable for them.

-Several (alternative) methods are intended for that:

-a by the comission of youth media protection (KJM) approved age verification method will be used
-contents are only accesable to a certain time (e.g. content for 16years and older: only between 22.00-06.00 hours
-all content will be classified with proper age age rating

Thanks for the info. This is absolutely horrible. I was under the assumption that it was illegal to be a Nazi in Germany today...

It's done... i dont have time to translate right now, but the essence is that the treaty has been accepted... which means every german website will have to add youth ratings like +6, +12 etc. to their site and make sure only proper eyes see proper stuff... hilarious
